Dog Tales (Youth 8-12 yrs)

This program is designed to pair children struggling with reading and a dog who is trained to listen to them read. The dogs are screened for gentle character and good habits. Watch as your child’s confidence in reading soars!

This course offers basic computer instruction. The workshops will cover basic introduction to Windows, email and internet usage. Easy tips and tricks will be shared to make your computer experience fun and less threatening. Free weekly workshops are open to adults within the MD of Foothills.

English Language Learning (E.L.L.)

Literacy for Life offers instruction in English Language skills to adults who speak English as their second language. These classes include reading, writing and conversation skills. We offer classes in different communities in the Municipal District of Foothills #31.

Adult Lifelong Learning Programs





General Educational Development (G.E.D.) Readiness Classes

There are many people who have not completed high school and find themselves interested in pursuing a higher paying position or continuing with his or her education. For these people, studying and taking the GED (General Equivalency Development) test is a great option. Literacy for Life’s course will increase your language arts and math skills as a first step towards writing the GED examination. This is a FCEC program offered in partnership with Literacy for Life.

For the new and the nervous computer users. Get hands-on practice with relaxed one-on-one instruction. This service will be delivered by Literacy for Life in partnership with the High River Library. This service will start in January.

Volunteer Adult Tutoring Program

Trained volunteer tutors work one-on-one with adult learners in basic reading, writing and math skills. Tutoring for English as a Second Language is also offered. This service is provided throughout the year.

Literacy for Life Foundation offers educational and workplace programs to businesses for a cost. Costs are dependent on the program provided and the purpose of the training.

Workplace programs could include (but are not limited to) English as a Second Language classes, essential skills training and plain language workshops.
