Values

The organization is based on the following values:

Communication
Literacy is more than reading and writing. It includes all aspects of communication

  • Oral Communication
  • Working with Others
  • Continuous Learning
  • Thinking Skills
  • Writing Skills
  • Computer Use
  • Document Use
  • Reading Text and Numeracy

Multi-Sectorial Literacy crosses all boundaries in the community, family and government.

Autonomy
A person’s literacy impacts their social, emotional and physical health and their ability to make choices in their lives. Choices lead to independence.

Dignity
All people will be treated with respect celebrating and building on the strengths of the individual and the family.

Accessibility
Literacy resources have to be local and accessible to families and individuals.

Learner Centered
They must be learner centered and create opportunities for people to reach their literacy and learning potential in everyday living.

Life Long Learning
It is important to effect an individual’s literacy development early, but as literacy and learning is a lifetime process, “it is never too late and never too early.”
